Repairing the Bifrost had been a complicated and highly tiresome affair. Raising taxes and hiring workers to assist in the reconstruction had take a lot of the Allfather's energy, especially given the reluctance of the higher houses of the realm to partake in the payment of the works. No matter how many times Heimdal managed to save Asgard over and over again, somehow the bridge that relayed them to the Nine Realms always fell into pieces in the process. The bridge's latest destruction had been the act of his two elder sons, once again managing to nearly annihilate the shaky the diplomatic relationships between Asgard and Jotunheim. Little did it matter now, as Odin had himself made sure to present apologies to Lord Thrym and King Laufey for the distasteful machination Loki had concocted to gain back Mjolnir after his brother had lost it on a bet and the subsequent bruises inflicted by a cross-dressed Thor under the influence of the Berserk. Needless to say, the king of Asgard had been delighted to learn that a certain Lord Fury had called for two of his sons to partake in what seemed like some sort of adventure in Midgard, giving him a small break from his cherished but troublesome children.

Nonetheless, the bridge was now fully functional and Odin had left Sleipnir in the stables, the eight-legged horse tired from all the running around he had been forced to do. Landing on Midgard always made his not-so-young articulations ache a little bit as he knelt under the impact, but he raised himself up gracefully, looking at his surroundings. It had only taken a flash of light, and he was there, on something that looked like a large rock covered with strange beasts of metal and angry Midgardians shouting around him, pointing metal sticks toward him. He frowned. The dialect they seemed to speak somehow sounded like what he had heard a few centuries ago, when he had last visited Midgard, but their accent was undecipherable. His sons had familiarised themselves with Midgard beforehand, but Odin himself knew very little but what he knew from his previous travels here. He frowned, tried to address them to calm their fury. He was, after all, coming here on friendly terms.

"Cousins, I hither were invited by the brave Lord Fury. Pray tell if 'tis indeed hither that he doth liveth, for I would fancy a chat with him."

(CROSSDRESSING BERSERKING THOR IS CANON OKAY ? No but seriously, Thrymskvida.)

Loki was walking around, discovering his new school and trying to avoid every student as much as possible. As mush as he disliked everything about his situation, Loki had to admit that this school was well equipped and the scenery was simply splendid. He had only seen a few part of this academy when he heard the last thing he ever wanted to hear now: his father’s voice. It was impossible to miss it, this strong and pervasive voice that let no place for any kind of argumentation.

At first, Loki thought about fleeing and contemplated the idea. It seemed way easier to run away and evade from his father than face him. His father had a way to make him feel uncomfortable and helpless like no one else in any realms. And even if Loki did manage to escape from where he was without his father noticing his presence, he was sure that Odin would find out anyway about him and punish him no matter what excuses Loki could give him.

Taking a deep breath and keeping looking down at the floor, Loki screwed up his courage and walked past the students who were trying to understand what his father was saying. Those simpletons were looking at Odin like he was speaking a different language than theirs. How foolish they were…

“Greetings… Father. I do beseech you would tell me the reason of your presence here.”

The All-Father instantly recognized the voice of his quieter son, noting a subtle but very present note of annoyance in his intonation. A large move of the hand sufficed to silence the mortals that had previously been shouting incoherently at him. It would have been a lie to say that he wasn't aware of his tendency to make a strong, powerful impression on everyone he ever met. He knew his very presence imposed respect and obedience and used it to his advantage, being a king and ruler of one of the most powerful of the Nine Realms. He walked out of the circle made by the Bifrost, mortals stepping out of his way without even being ordered to, giving his second son a serious, yet fatherly look. He placed one of his impressive palms on his shoulder.

To be perfectly honest, he had promised Thrym that he would properly punish Thor and Loki for their latest misadventures in Jotunheim. While going to Midgard was something Thor thought of as a vacation, Loki had seemed rather displeased with the idea, even though he wouldn't say it out loud. The sorcerer had a complicated relationship with mortals, unlike Thor who enjoyed their company greatly, and Balder who manifested a peaceful indifference toward them. Contempt for the weak wasn't something a king could allow himself to feel, and Odin hoped that this little time in Midgard would teach Loki a valuable lesson for the future.

"Son, I am very merry to encounter thee hither, whilst I am on my way to encounter the Lord Fury. Has thou and thine brother found joy in this little travel Midgard ? Shall the court of Asgard ready itself for, maybe, a very merry announcement ? 'Tis said that the maidens of Midgard are very fair indeed."

There was no smile on his face, but his voice had grown slightly warmer. He had great expectations for his sons, and the idea of, someday, knowing the joy of having grandchildren made him giddy with excitement, although he wouldn't allow it to show to anyone.

Loki looked at his feet while his father was speaking. It seemed like the most normal thing to do when you were the god of mischief and you were facing the god who could decide your fate. Loki might be mischievous, but he was not lunatic enough to upset his father so he stayed quiet and listened carefully.

“I do think Thor is enjoying himself quite a lot in this establishment…I, on the other hand, am finding a bit difficult to endure these insensate numskulls.” explained Loki truly that his honesty would not bring him more troubles than he already had.

At the mention of the midgardian maidens, Loki tensed and dared not to look at his father’s face, fearing his reaction. As much as Odin claimed to love his children, he would certainly not accept the fact that his son might end up with another…man. Honesty was no longer an option in this conversation since Odin was expecting an answer from him and he would not handle well the truth.

“You are right father. Even if these Midgardians are clearly inferiors and weak, I did find interest in some women. But father, would you not prefer that I stay focused on my studies rather than on the pleasures of the flesh?”

"I worry not for thee, my son. 'Tis Thor I hope will not find in maidens too much jolity. Asgard's ladies do miss their prince !"

Odin gave the boy a tap on the shoulder, maybe a little bit harder than he should have done, but holding back his strength wasn't something Father had ever taught him. After all, it was not warrior's business to try to be delicate or elegant.

Leading the march as he always did, being the most powerful king of the Nine Realms, he walked away from the still dumbfounded crowd that had saw him come through the ray of the Bifrost. He wondered for a moment how much had Midgard changed since he had last came, knowing now that they spoke in a very different way than when he had last visited. Obviously, the whole concept of wormholes to travel between the realms still scared them, giving his rather strange welcome here.

"Prithee, son, show me the way to the lord of this realm. Know I little of him, but 'tis clear he doth show valour and courage. Heimdall hath seen him put an end to an assault against peasants."

Dragging the tab behind his father, Loki could sense everyone’s gaze on his father. He knew that, as soon as they would be enough distanced, these tattletales would start whispering and slandering like the cowards they were. Loki could not actually blame them for not wanting to face his father since he usually could not do so himself most of the time. One can not simply argue with the Allfather.

“You must be referring to Director Fury. Although I have never been to his office… I will show you the way father.” declared Loki unsure of where he would have to go.

Indeed, one can not refuse anything to the Allfather and seeing his Father’s displeasure wasn’t part of Loki’s plan for this day. Anyway, all he had to do was escort his father to the director’s office and his job would be done. Easier said then done apparently.

“Follow me, Father… I’ll lead you to Director Fury’s office.” Offered Loki taking a random direction hoping he would not get lost in the endless corridors of this establishment.

Thor was wandering in the establishment, looking for a new room he could find out more about and maybe make some new friends. Or maybe not for the moment. His brother being utterly rude at him in the past days made the man alot less cheerful than he usually was. When he stepped into a strange empty corridor, the God sighed lightly. Great~ For once, he needed to be alone and there he was, all by himself in a part of the Academy he wasn't even aware existed. There was a door, right there, probably leading to the outside world judging by the look of it. Indoor doors didn't need to be made of metal... Also, the big EXIT written on the top of the door helped figure out this was one of the ways to get outside so the blond man pushed it, stepping outside as he felt the fresh breeze get to him as soon as the door had opened.

For a moment, the sun blinded the young man as he was facing it directly when he stepped out. A movement was sensed and he had to narrow his eyes to set his blue gaze oh the two forms in front of him. Forms that moved. Forms that had really familiar voices. When the man finally recognized who had been talking, his smile grew wide, fastly walking towards them.

"Father! What are you doing here~?" He chuckled when he arrived near both of them, already forgetting the misunderstandings that were currently going on between Loki and him.

"What are both of you doing on the outside!?" he added, smile never fading up. He was glad to see his father, even though it was kind of confusing to have him in here with them. What was important enough so the Allfather had to travel to Midgard to arrenge personnaly?!

"Brother~ What have you done again~~?" the blond man asked in a silly tone, lightly poking the smaller boy's ribcage with his elbow. Of course, he was kidding~ But was still confused about his father being present in this Academy. In Midgard. Especially.

The construction this castle were strange, the complete opposite of whatever Odin had seen on his last visit to Midgard. The materials they had used to build it were different, very different. It amused him, how fast Midgardians were catching up with the technology of Asgard, although taking vastly different directions in terms of aesthetics and function. Soon enough, they maybe they would even be able to pierce wormholes into the fabric of space and time and travel by the branches of Yggdrasil to the different realms. Odin allowed himself a sigh, unseen by Loki who was walking in front of him. Worlds sure did change fast, too fast for an old man like him.

The sight of his eldest son walking toward them surprised him. Thor seemed smaller, somehow, out of his royal clothes and armor. Sure, Loki's Midgardian clothing had also seemed weird at first, but he had never been one for regalia and large weapons, thus the change hadn't been so great. A smile escaped his lips as his two sons first talked. No matter how much trouble they sometimes represented and often they fought, he was glad that they somehow managed to share a bond like the one of true blood-brothers. Or, at least, a bond strong enough to cause trouble all over the Nine Realms, at the court of Asgard's great despair. Odin thought about Thrym, and managed not to make a face. Thank the gods, he was good a diplomacy, a quality his sons needed to acquire as fast a possible if they wished to succeed to him on the throne of Asgard.

"I bid thee good morrow, Thor. Nay, thine brother hath no wicked deed accomplished, for I do know that this Director is a gracious goodman and, marry !, he writeth me the most charming accounts of your situations. Have I traveled to Midgard, 'tis for matters that shall remain a secret between Fury and meself. I must however query thee about thine well being hither, as thine mother freteth much and I must calm her worry."

As soon as Thor’s voice could be heard, Loki sighed and prayed that he would change his mind and go away. Obviously, such thing would never happen with Thor, but Loki couldn’t help but hope he would remind unnoticed by his brother. Well, that was the case before Thor started annoying him in a way he knew Loki hated while teasing him.
Forgetting his manners, Loki glared at Thor and gave a slight slap on the back of Thor hand to make him stop.

“Enough already! I have not done anything wrong, yet, but if you keep being so irritating then I will not hesitate to- “began Loki before realising he was about to threaten his brother in front of the Allfather. Shaking his head, Loki opted for a safer choice and let his father do the talking.

As soon as his father started chatting with Thor, Loki mind began to wander off. The young god just kept staring at both his father and brother noting all their resemblances. In short, Thor was the exact copy of his father only way younger. They both kept smiling at each other, leaving Loki, who had stepped aside, uncomfortable.

“Brother, I assume you know the way to Director Fury’s office. Please ensure father does find it, for I must go elsewhere… urgently…”lied the god of mischief hoping he could get away with it. “I must take my leave father, my apologies. Have a safe journey back home. Tell mother I miss her very much.” insisted Loki while walking in the direction of his dormitory.
